The Fragile Utopia

  • St James Church Clerkenwell Close London, EC1R 0EA United Kingdom (map)

Spreading across the Western world like a slow growing moss, a beautiful culture seems to offer us everything.  More options, more connection, more experiences, more freedom.

Through advertising, media, Internet, and celebrity, a vast mental world is daily constructed in our minds painting the possibility of a utopia in which an individual life infused with pleasure, peace, and possibility is at our finger tips.

Yet this beautiful culture hides a difficult truth. Never before have we been so anxious, disconnected, addicted and divided. The beautiful culture has continued to grow, while we and the world grow more fragile.

How do we live well in our beautiful yet fragile age? What does the Christian faith have to say about the living a life of meaning and purpose? This event is part of School of Faith, an ongoing forum where men and women can explore various perspectives on London culture and how it relates to Christian faith.
